I'm not sure if its pickiness? A lot of people get together for a variety of reasons as a couple. What humans would equate to mateships?

A lot of men are usually attracted to females and vice versa in our society, and a lot of it is how we have babies. We're kind of wired to want a partner of the opposite gender you're attracted to and can have kids with. Or if they have a lot of money, that's also an incentive, apparently.

But anyways, a lot of times, its because of that. Not that people of the same gender can't be attracted to one another or have kids! They just can't have kids naturally and a lot of people see it as a sin for some reason.
